ActiveX transformations gone from SSIS?

In good old fashioned DTS there was the ability to perform custom transformations using activeX / vbscripty type language - does this still exist or are we stuck with the derived column editor?

I have never used DTS; but I know you can create Script tasks in the control flow and script components in the data flow.

Jamie Thomson has a series of post where he points some differences between DTS and SSIS:

This does not still exist. You can either use the Derived Column transform or the Script Component transform.

One of the reasons this went away was the poor performance of using interpreted script. Another is that the built-in transforms in SSIS are so much more complete.

But the Derived Column transform could certainly use a better editor...

Acess Denied SQL Server doesnot Exist

Hi I recently installed a copy of SQL Server 2000 and was unable to connect
as my SQL server gives me the message "Acess Denied SQL Server doesnot
Exist". I did use all the trouble shooting help but couldnot rectify it. The
probelm seems to be with my logon. I am starting it with a single user mode.
It listens to TCP/IP, shared memory and named pipes. Even I have allowed the
1433 port on the firewall. But the error message it gives is Error: 15457,
Severity: 0, State: 1. Could someone please help?Where are you seeing the error and what is the message?
Error 15457 in SQL Server wouldn't have anything to do with
it and would actually indicate the someone is connecting.
What tool are you using to connect?
How are you starting in single user mode and is there any
reason why you need to do this?
What login are you using?
Can you ping the server?
Can you log onto the server and connect with one of the
tools - Query Analyzer, Enterprise Manager.

Server doesnot Exist". I am trying to connect through the service manager. I
have installed the evaluation version of SQL server on an XP professional
edition with both clients and server on the same machine. But it is not
connecting to the server. I have already pinged the server and it is
returning me the port numbers and ip addresses. I cannot connect to any of
the services. Does SQL server not runs on an XP professional edition?

Go to Control Panel -> Administrative Tools -> Services and make sure the
Sql Server service is running. This is one of the many possibilities that
might have happened.

Accessing Table From Visual Basic

I have a SQL table and I want to access it using the Visual Basic Code

but first I want to check whether the row is exist to update it or not exist so I can add new row. I have wrote this code but it doesn't work.

Set mydb2 = ceg.OpenResultset("select * from ProjCost where Mon='" _
& Format(SD, "dd/MM/yyyy") & "'", rdOpenDynamic, 3)
If mydb2.EOF Then
mydb2.AddNew
mydb2(0) = Trim(ProjNum)
mydb2(1) = Trim(ProjName)
mydb2(2) = Format(SD, "MM/dd/yyyy")
mydb2(3 + (mydb1(0) - 1) * 2) = Trim(Total)
mydb2.Update
Else
mydb2.Edit
mydb2(3 + (mydb1(0) - 1) * 2) = Trim(Total)
mydb2.Update
End If

can any body tell me what is wrong with this code as it's every time add a new record instead of updating the exisitng one

Thnx

Look at your query in Profler (or just output it into any debug window) and try to run it from QA, for examlpe.
P.S. Hint: datetime field may contain time as well, Then your query will return only rows with midnight time.
